Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-27.
Hank ("we", "the app") is a car-maintenance companion published
by Damian Diaz. This policy describes what data
Hank collects, why, and how you control it. If you have
questions, email
deam.diaz.developer@gmail.com.
Data we collect
- Account identifier - when you sign in with
Apple or Google, we receive an opaque user id and your email
address. We do not see your password.
- Vehicle data you enter - make, model, year,
VIN, odometer, fill-ups, services, expenses, trips, photos.
- Location - only while a trip is actively
being tracked. Used to compute distance and (optionally)
reverse-geocode start / end. Route points are stored locally
and synced to your account.
- Chat content - messages you send to "Ask
Hank" are forwarded to an inference provider (Anthropic via
Vercel AI Gateway) to generate the response. Messages are
stored locally on your device.
- Diagnostics - none. Hank does not embed any
third-party analytics SDKs.
How we use it
Only to provide the features you ask for: showing your garage,
reminding you about due services, computing MPG, exporting
mileage reports, and answering your questions. We do not sell
data and we do not show ads.
Where it lives
Data persists locally on your device (encrypted at rest by
iOS / Android). When you sign in, the same rows sync to a
Supabase Postgres database scoped to your user id via row-level
security. Chat messages are sent to Anthropic via Vercel AI
Gateway and processed only to return a response - they are not
used to train models.
Your controls
- Sign out from Profile to stop sync.
- Use the in-app Backup screen to export all your data as CSV.
- Delete your account from Profile in the app, or from our
account deletion page if you no
longer have it installed. Deletion is immediate and permanent.
Children
Hank is not directed at children under 13 and we do not
knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we'll update the "Last
updated" date above and notify signed-in users on next launch.
